for our veterans

today is a holiday veterans day
i would like to thank all the people
who fought for my freedom
the mothers and fathers
sons and brothers and sisters
etched in stone
alive and gone
letting our hearts
go out to them all
for what we take for granted
every day
for what they fought for
and fight for still
thank you
so much
for laying down your life
for us now and then
we can never repay you
we can just honor you
now and forever
